Winning Songs for a Winning Season: Hits From our 2019-20 Broadway Philadelphia Shows

In every show, there is a standout song that gets your heart racing and skin tingling as you remember just how magical musical theater can be. With the opening night of our 2019-20 Broadway Philadelphia season fast approaching, we’ve compiled a list of songs to do just that and get you ready for another incredible year of performances. 1. “La Vie Bohème” — RENT
To kick off, we have a musical theater classic that always has us singing and dancing along. An ode to Bohemianism and counter-culture, this tune gets you passionate and excited about everything you love!

 

2. “Welcome to the Rock” — Come From Away
The opening number of the show, this lively song literally welcomes you to the small Canadian town of Gander and prepares you for the adventure ahead. A moving performance with powerful vocals, instrumentals, and choreography—this is your next favorite Broadway jam.

 

3. “ (Just a) Simple Sponge” — The SpongeBob Musical
Many of us can relate to SpongeBob in his quest to prove that he is so much more than a “simple sponge.” A fun and motivational tune, this power anthem reminds us all to believe in ourselves and remember that we can reach for the stars.

 

4. “Revenge Party” — Mean Girls
A plot-driven, comedic musical number, this song immediately gets you invested in the stories of all the iconic Mean Girls characters. You’ll find yourself laughing along as the characters take you with them through the woes of high school life, from friend drama to boy trouble.

 

5. “Overture” — The Band’s Visit

It wasn't very important…” In a musical where ‘band’ is in the title, it is the first notes of the band playing that excite you more than anything. 8. “Do You Hear The People Sing?” — Les Misérables
As the most beloved and well-known song in Les Misérables, this revolutionary anthem motivates you to take a stand. The lyrics call you to overcome any adversity you may be facing, and act as a constant reminder of the power a group coming together can hold.

 

9. “What’s The Buzz?” — Jesus Christ Superstar

10. “Waving Through A Window” — Dear Evan Hansen
