Calendar of Free programs throughout the Kimmel Center, including performances in the Plaza, Organ postludes, artist chats and more! Enjoy free events prior to or after all Kimmel Center Presents shows in Verizon Hall. Free Building & Theater Tours are available Tuesday - Sunday at 1pm! This one-hour tour includes architectural highlights and visits to Verizon Hall and Perelman Theater. Or take the Art & Architecture Tour offered on Saturdays at 10:30am. Saturday, May 9 6pm | Commonwealth Plaza | Free in the Plaza ArtJaz Gallery Exhibit Experience the messages of jazz and more in this exhibit of paintings and mixed media. The exhibit will be featured in Commonwealth Plaza prior to the ticketed performance by John Patitucci, Rufus Reid and Danilo Pérez, part of the Jazz Up Close series in Perelman Theater.
6pm | Commonwealth Plaza | Free in the Plaza One Alternative One Alternative describes its sound as an acoustic fusion that blends the compositional form of classical music with the spontaneity of jazz and rock for an ever-changing listening experience. The members of One Alternative are co-founders Jill Haley on oboe/English horn and guitarist Mark Oppenlander, with guitarist David Bozenhard. One Alternative will perform in Commonwealth Plaza prior to the ticketed performance by Peter, Paul & Mary in Verizon Hall. Free in the Plaza events are part of the Wachovia Gateway to the Arts Program made possible by a generous grant from the Wachovia Foundation.
