Nat King Cole's smoky, smooth vocals spawned a long string of solid hits starting with "Straighten Up And Fly Right" in 1943. As a singer, Cole was called "the best friend a song ever had," but he was essentially a jazz performer at heart: even his later pop hits boast piano technique, vocal phrasings, and lush orchestrations that are indebted to his early roots in jazz. NEA Jazz Master pianist Ramsey Lewis and guitarist-vocalist John Pizzarelli join forces to pay homage to the titan of 1950s vocal pop, performing favorites including 'Route 66,' 'Mona Lisa,' 'Unforgettable,' and more...!
